Hurricane Laura Disaster Relief Fund
The Early Childhood Education Foundation of Louisiana has created a dedicated fund to support child care businesses who have sustained damage and destruction to their child care centers during Hurricane Laura. ECEFL is asking for donations from individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations and state and national foundations.
Hurricane Laura hit Louisiana in the early hours of August 27, 2020. Southwest Louisiana sustained hurricane force winds of 120 miles per hours. Of the 64 parishes in the state of Louisiana, 23 parishes have been dramatically impacted by Hurricane Laura. FEMA estimates that the Hurricane caused $18 Billion in damages, mostly in Southwest Louisiana.
Our foundation has assessed the damages, which range from downed fences and toppled playground equipment, to roofs that need to be completely restored to childcare centers that have been completely destroyed by Hurricane Laura and need to be rebuilt entirely.
100% of the donations will be given DIRECTLY to licensed childcare centers in Louisiana. Childcare is the backbone of economic development and workforce development.
